Renowned Chess Champion Marc Esserman OUTSIDE here in the LMA today from 3-5 pm at the Countway Courtyard. Marc will run a chess "simul," where he will play multiple players at once as well as instruct anyone interested in learning the basics of the game.

This Tuesday from 12:00 - 2:00 PM at Countway Courtyard the OUTSIDE Storyteller is Professor Harold Cox. A contributor to WGBH’s Stories from the Stage, Stories to Scenes, Massmouth, and The Moth, Cox is the associate dean for public health practice at Boston University and a member of Boston’s Board of Health.

That's the question posed by Thursday's OUTSIDE Speaker, BIDMC's Dr. Suzanna Salamon. And if you answer "YES!" she says you better start your lifestyle change NOW. The talk starts at noon on Thursday, June 27th at Countway Courtyard and will be followed by a short Q&A session.

Thanks to everyone who took 5 minutes out of their day to send a Valentine to a child at Boston Children's Hospital last week. The kids received more than 38,000 messages of love and support from places as far away as Japan! 

Recognizing the threat that climate change poses to both human health and the health care system itself, Harvard Medical School and its affiliated hospitals and clinical institutes have committed to extensively decarbonize their operations, a move that is consistent with a major recommendation of the Lancet Countdown U.S. Brief.

Temple Israel just became the first synagogue in New England to receive the GreenFaith Energy Shield Certification. The Energy Shield is a 1-month program designed for synagogues to take action to reduce their carbon footprint and help their congregants do the same at home. The GreenFaith EnergyShield reflects the values of stewardship that reach back to Genesis and remind us of the importance of partnering with God in the ongoing work of Creation. 

Congratulations to our neighbors at Boston Children's Hospital for completing phase I of a major project over the weekend.

The first of three sections for BCH's new pedestrian bridge were installed over the weekend, and all went according to plan! It’s much easier to envision what the future will bring with the bridge, especially how it will improve the patient and family experience with safer, more direct access to and from the hospital.
