The “New Ideas in Music and Sound” series continues its second exciting season of cutting-edge original works by outstanding student composers and sound artists from colleges in the Fenway and Mission Hill areas on Thursday December 8th at 6pm at the
Parker Hill Branch of the Boston Public Library. The concert is free and open to the general public.

Masters student from New England Conservatory Anastasiya Dumma will perform her unique guitar improvisations influenced by twentieth century classical music, American jazz and Russian folk music.

There are dozens, maybe even hundreds of crosswalks in the LMA. Do you know how to cross safely? Do you cross safely all the time?

MassDOT has teamed up with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the Executive Office of Public Safety and the Department of Public Health to educate pedestrians, motorists and cyclists on crosswalk safety.

While the campaign is focused on parents teaching kids to use crosswalks properly and safely, there are some great tips for the tens of thousands of pedestrians, cars and cyclists we see in the LMA every day.

Bostonians LOVE their Red Sox, and we are totally devoted to our beloved Big Papi!

Last month Governor Baker announced that the Brookline Avenue Bridge that spans the Mass Pike will be officially named The David Ortiz Bridge! And it doesn't stop there - Mayor Walsh will rename the street that connects Fenway Park to the commuter rail station David Ortiz Drive!

Let's hope Papi retires with another World Series ring, too!

We wanted to be sure to share this wonderful story about LMA neighbor Boston Children's Hospital's musical therapists. The profession has grown at Children’s, and across the country, too. There are now 6,000 credentialed music therapists practicing in the US, 15 percent of whom work in medical or surgical settings, according to the American Music Therapy Association.

MASCO Call Center operators field more than 1.5 million calls a year. The events of last weekend in Orlando reminded them of their experiences dealing with the volume of calls and trauma codes they managed after our city and our hospitals dealt with the aftermath of the Marathon bombing in 2013.

The second annual summer of "Bands on Blackfan" kicked off yesterday with the largest crowd ever. Hundreds of employees from LMA institutions came out to Blackfan Circle to enjoy live music, great weather and delectable delights from three food trucks.

More than 300 meals were purchased from the food trucks, and some people simply brought their brown bag lunch to the sunny lawn to enjoy the music of local artists TRY.
