Beverage Container Recycling Hits the Streets
Did you know that recycling one aluminum can saves enough energy to charge a phone for a month and a half? The LMA now has ten new outdoor recycling bins, designed to accept cans as well as glass and plastic bottles. LMA institutions already have successful recycling programs inside their buildings and this new program fills a gap by allowing people to recycle on the go.
The new recycling bins accept only empty bottles and cans. Paper, coffee cups and other waste must go into the accompanying trash bins. The bins were installed by Longwood Collective, with abutting institutions emptying them and disposing of the recycling materials.
