ボストン – ロングウッド・コレクティブの人気企画「Outside//」が、ロングウッド医療・学術エリア（LMA）で本格的に展開されている。LMAの従業員、患者、学生、訪問者は、楽しいアクティビティ、音楽パフォーマンス、屋外アート、フードトラック、フィットネスクラスなどのアメニティを無料で利用できる。

今年のOutside//は、「Bands on Blackfan」シリーズを通して無料の野外ライブコンサートを提供しており、次回のコンサートは7月20日（木）午前11時30分から午後1時30分まで、エマニュエル・ローン（ルイ・パスツール通り33番地）で「The Eli Cash Band」が出演する予定です。今年のOutside//プログラムは、昨年アクティビティが企画された9か所に加え、ブリガム・アンド・ウィメンズ病院のコーン・コートヤードとエマニュエル・カレッジの芝生を含む2つの新しいLMA会場でもアクティビティを実施します。

「私たちは2019年にボストン小児病院、ベス・イスラエル・ディーコネス医療センター、ブリガム・アンド・ウィメンズ病院、ダナ・ファーバー癌研究所と提携し、従業員、学生、訪問者がリラックスしたり、楽しんだり、交流したりできる公共スペースとして私有地の広場や歩道を活性化させる目的でOutside//を創設しました」とロングウッド・コレクティブのCEO、デビッド・スウィーニー氏は述べています。「試験的なプログラムとして始まったOutside//は、COVID-19パンデミックの間、真に不可欠なサービスとなり、地域社会にとって非常に愛される基盤となるプログラムとなりました。この夏、Outside//をさらに規模を拡大し、より良い形で復活させることを大変嬉しく思っています。」

毎週のフードトラックの訪問、フィットネスクラス、400冊の本を揃えた屋外読書室、ゲームカートに加え、ロングウッド・コレクティブの交通管理協会であるCommuteWorksと提携したOutside//プログラムは、自転車通勤者向けの無料自転車点検や芝生ゲームも提供しています。昨年の夏は、犬と触れ合ったり里親になったりできる「ワグ・ウェンズデー」ドッグプログラムに毎週200人以上が訪れ、毎週20時間のライブ音楽演奏も行われました。ロングウッド・コレクティブの調査によると、LMAの全従業員68,000人のうち56%がOutside//の施設やアクティビティを複数回利用したことがあると判明しています。

ロングウッド・コレクティブの都市計画家兼デザイナーであり、Outside//を率いるレイチェル・ダウリー・アレクサンダー氏は、「この1年間、会員の皆様から、Outside//プログラムが喜びの瞬間を生み出し、『思いやりの文化を屋外にもたらす』ためにどれほど期待されているかという声をいただいてきました。これは、病院や医療センターが日々行っている素晴らしい活動を補完するものです。そして、こうした声を受けて、2023年のシーズンを企画しました。また、Outside//は、ボストンとその周辺地域のあらゆる背景や地域の人々にとって、LMAをさらに魅力的で居心地の良い場所にするためのもう一つの方法だと考えています。」と述べています。

Outside//は、利用可能なプログラムやアメニティへの人々の関心を高める最前線の「アンバサダー」3名と、ケンタッキー州に拠点を置き、ボストンのLMAや全米各地の都市など、ビジネス地区や学術・医療地区の活性化と維持のための様々なサービスを提供する企業、Block by Blockのチームリーダーによって支えられています。

A key feature of the Outside// program are the tables, chairs, and umbrellas for people to use and enjoy.
